On Campus Shop- The Uniform Shop will extend its Term 4 hours for additional fittings, with refreshed uniform stock available from Term 4, Week 3 (27 October). Between Weeks 3–6 (27 Oct–21 Nov), we invite families with students starting in 2026 at ELC, Reception, Year 3, or Year 6 to attend fittings. Online Shop- The refreshed uniform will be available to purchase from the online Uniform Shop from Term 4, Week 7 (24 Nov).
Yes, a two-year transition period will be in place. During this time, students may continue wearing the current uniform or switch to the refreshed uniform, whichever best suits your family’s circumstances.
All students will be required to wear the refreshed uniform from Term 1, 2028.
Please note, that while students may continue wearing the current uniform or transition to the refreshed uniform, mixing and matching items from both uniforms is not permitted. For example, students may wear the refreshed formal uniform with the current sport uniform, or vice versa, but not a combination of old and new items within the same category.
We understand that having students in both uniforms may look a little inconsistent for a time, but we believe it’s important to provide families with the flexibility and time needed to plan for this change. This season marks an exciting and memorable milestone in the life of our School.
The cost of the refreshed uniform will be comparable to our current uniform. However, over time, families will save money.
With the new all-year-round design, there’s no need to buy separate summer and winter uniforms. A practical layering system has also been introduced, allowing students to adapt their uniform to the season, reducing the number of items needed overall.
For our students in Years 3–12, they will need both uniforms as there will continue to be specific days for wearing the Formal Uniform and Sport Uniform. Families will receive details of these days at the beginning of each year.
Families are welcome to purchase the refreshed uniform gradually over the two-year transition period - there’s no need to buy everything at once.
Please note, however, that while students may continue wearing the current uniform or transition to the refreshed uniform, mixing and matching items from both uniforms is not permitted. For example, students may wear the refreshed formal uniform with the current sport uniform, or vice versa, but not a combination of old and new items within the same category.
We understand that students in the later years of school may be nearing graduation. That’s why, throughout the two-year transition period, students are welcome to continue wearing the current uniform until it is fully phased out in Term 1, 2028.
This approach ensures that families of older students won’t need to invest in the refreshed uniform unless they choose to, making the transition as practical and considerate as possible.
The refreshed uniform includes thoughtfully designed options for both boys and girls, with shared items such as sport polo top, rugby jumper, shorts and trackpants, soft shell jacket and blazers available across the board. Where possible, styles are unisex to promote inclusivity and comfort, while also offering flexibility to suit individual preferences and fit.
Yes, a limited range of the current uniform is still available at the Uniform Shop and may continue to be worn until the end of 2027.
Families are also encouraged to donate pre-loved uniform items (in good condition) to support others during the transition period. These donations will help ensure that all students are well-equipped as we move toward the refreshed uniform.
No, our coloured House tops will remain the same. All students are encouraged to have a House polo as part of their wardrobe to proudly represent their House and foster a strong sense of belonging.
The refreshed black sport shorts and pants have been designed to complement the House tops, creating a unified and polished look that works seamlessly across both the sport uniform and House events.
No. We understand that during the transition period, some students will be wearing the refreshed uniform while others remain in the current one. However, students are not permitted to mix pieces from both uniforms - for example, wearing new pants with an old shirt or tie.
This helps maintain a consistent and polished appearance for all students as we move toward the full adoption of the refreshed uniform.
Students may begin wearing the refreshed uniform from Term 1, 2026.
The new uniform will become compulsory for all students starting Term 1, 2028.
Yes, the refreshed uniform sizing aligns closely with the current Perm-a-Pleat sizing to ensure a smooth and familiar fit for students. We continue to encourage families to book at uniform fitting appointment.
No, they do not need to wear a tie.
No. Hats are not interchangeable between the two uniforms and must match the uniform being worn.
Yes. During the transition period, students may use either the old or new school bag regardless of which uniform they are wearing. However, all students will be required to have the new school bag by Term 1, 2028.
No. Students are required to wear the sport socks that correspond with the version of the uniform they are wearing.

Between Weeks 3–6 (27 Oct–21 Nov), we invite families with students starting in 2026 at ELC, Reception, Year 3, or Year 6 to attend fittings. From Week 7 (24 Nov), all other year levels are welcome. We’ve explored recycling options, but currently there are no textile recycling facilities available in South Australia. Uniforms can’t be placed in clothing recycling bins or donated to op shops. We encourage families to hold onto items for the next SA Government ‘Set Your Clothes Free’ event.
Yes, families do not need to purchase a new blazer for students currently in Year 9 or above. These students may continue wearing their existing blazer through to the end of Year 12, with the new or existing uniform.
Students shared that they felt uncomfortable in the white shirts, particularly due to their transparency. We also understand that the white shirts were difficult to keep looking their best, with stains being hard to remove.
In response, we’ve introduced maroon and gingham shirts that are more practical, comfortable, and continue to reflect the smart, unified look we value at King’s.
The colours and uniform pieces were chosen to reflect and align with King’s identity as a unified school across both campuses. After extensive research, we made a purposeful shift from previous tones (such as navy in the PE uniform) to ensure consistency with our official school colours.
We understand that some elements, like formal jumpers and school bags, may be similar to other schools. The reality is that in South Australia, it is nearly impossible to choose a colour or garment style that hasn’t already been adopted by another school in some form.
The final result is a thoughtfully designed, practical and consistent uniform that students can wear with pride from ELC to Year 12.
The decision-making process was led by our Principal in close consultation with the Executive Team. While the final approval rested with the Executive, the process was thoughtful and collaborative, shaped by research and meaningful input from our students - the ones who wear the uniform every day.
Students were at the heart of the consultation process, as they are the ones wearing the uniform every day. Student focus groups were held to gather feedback on comfort, practicality and style, helping to shape a uniform that supports their day-to-day experience at school. While parents were not formally consulted during the design phase, their voices were still considered. Over the years, feedback shared with the Principal and leadership through conversations, emails and observations has been collected and noted and many of those insights helped inform the direction of the review. Throughout the process, our aim has always been to make decisions with care, consistency and the best interests of our students and families in mind.
We understand that some families may have preferred earlier notice, and we want to reassure you that this decision was made with care and intention.
Throughout the process, our aim has always been to make decisions that are student-focused, thoughtfully planned, and communicated with clarity. We recognise that involving every stakeholder at every stage can create confusion and delay, so we made the decision to focus the early phases on students - the ones wearing the uniform every day.
Our priority was to ensure every detail was considered, from student feedback and design development to manufacturing, sizing, availability and timelines before formally communicating with families. This approach allowed us to answer your questions with confidence and provide a clear, consistent rollout plan, rather than sharing information too early without the necessary answers in place.
We deeply value our parent community and sincerely thank you for your patience and trust while we carefully gathered all the necessary information. This approach allows us to share the details with clarity and confidence, supporting a smooth and positive transition for all students.
